Ultrafiltration

Ultrafiltration

Antunes Ultrafiltration systems remove micro-particles, bacteria, cysts and viruses. They do not remove the elements and minerals that are essential for the normal functioning of the human body. Therefore, they are used for the bacteriological treatment of water and to improve its turbidity, colour, smell and taste. Since this small and simple device has so many features, it makes it unique in the water treatment market. Its benefits have been confirmed through studies, carried out in Poland by Firma Bartosz, during which the device was supplied with treated municipal wastewater for a longer period of time and produced crystal clear drinking water.

Ultrafiltration system is used in different areas of life, wherever the highest water quality and safety in terms of bacterial contamination are required, i.e. in homes, industry, especially food processing sector, hospitals, schools, laboratories, air conditioning and ventilation systems, kitchens, restaurants and bars, etc.

The system effectively improves water treatment processes using reverse osmosis technology, increasing its performance and, in many cases, allowing its use.

Working principle

The essential element of the system is a cartridge, made in the form of a sleeve, filled with numerous membranes formed into small diameter tubes with capillary holes. Filtered water flows outside through the holes, whereas the impurities are retained on the inner surfaces of the membranes. These impurities are periodically rinsed with filtered water by opening an automatic valve, which is actuated by the controller. Ultrafiltration system works well with mechanical filter mounted upstream of the system as well as carbon cartridge located downstream of it.

The capacity of ultrafiltration membranes is provided by Antunes for specific water quality. Actual capacity depends mostly on the quality of filtered water.

Advantages:

Antunes ultrafiltration system is economical both in terms of investment and operation. The system has also other advantages:

  • it requires little space and is simple in use,
  • it consumes small amounts of electric power,
  • it removes bacteria, viruses and cysts,
  • it reduces turbidity,
  • as opposed to the reverse osmosis technology, it does not remove elements and minerals,
  • high durability of membranes,
  • it combines high capacity with small dimensions,
  • there is no need for the dosing of chemicals,
  • low operating costs,
  • it consumes small amounts of water to rinse the cartridge.
