REDOX potential (ORP)

The common feature of all springs located in such miraculous places as, for example, Lourdes in France, Nordenau in Germany and Tlacote in Mexico is the water containing active hydrogen that has the ability to reduce free radicals. Due to its beneficial effects on our bodies, it is called healing water.


What is REDOX (ORP)?

The name Redox (ORP) is used to determine the oxidation/reduction potential of water and other liquids. Nowadays, we increasingly pay more attention to the quality of drinking water, and Redox potential is used to determine it. The more negative Redox index is, the better the regenerative qualities of water.

ORP potential (oxidation-reduction potential) is measured with a reference electrode, which is why we can get a quick and exact value expressed in millivolts (mV). Unfortunately, not all water is healthy. Most of the sold bottled water has a positive potential, making them oxidizing agents. In order to assimilate it, our body must consume a lot of vital energy.

Water which has oxidizing properties (with a positive potential) causes the formation of free radicals in the body, which accumulation is also enhanced by such factors as stress, poor diet, pollution, smoking, sunbathing, infections and age (over time, the defence mechanisms of the body become less efficient).

Large quantities of free radicals in the body cause oxidation processes and biochemical imbalances, resulting in the development of diseases and rapid aging of the body. This happens because unstable molecules (free radicals) generated in our body in the process of metabolism are not able to find an adequate number of electrons to become stable particles.


Research carried out in Japan at the Water Institute in Tokyo showed that drinking water with a negative Redox potential (also known as the alkaline water) improves health in cases of diseases such as:

  • reflux,
  • stress,
  • osteoporosis,
  • sickness,
  • high blood pressure,
  • dyspepsia,
  • heartburn,
  • arthritis,
  • chronic fatigue syndrome,
  • leg cramps,
  • migraine,
  • obesity,
  • psoriasis,
  • haemorrhoids,
  • and other.


In addition, water with negative potential has also other advantages. It:

  • oxygenates the body,
  • increases the efficiency of the body during exercise,
  • regenerates cells,
  • has anti-aging/rejuvenating properties,
  • perfectly quenches thirst,
  • neutralizes free radicals,
  • detoxifies,
  • protects DNA from damage,
