At the beginning it should established that the well fitted with a hand pump will be called the water supply point, in short WSP.

 

As you know, the construction of the WSP is not limited to the well and pump only. Other materials, as well as tools, are also needed, and we do not know which of them are at your disposal. So, if the deal is completed, you should provide us with your needs. Please specify whether you wish to receive all the materials and tools necessary for the construction of WSP or only a part of them.

 

You are also probably aware that the course of action needed to be taken for the construction of a given WSP depends on what conditions prevail in the place where the WSP is to be located. Therefore, in this study we would like to show you the possible technical solutions, depending on these conditions. We understand that it is not always possible to specify precisely how many solutions of any kind are needed. However, a specific solution is adjusted for given conditions, since other ones may be ineffective and may not provide the much needed water.

 

The most important aspects of these conditions are:

  1.  How deep below the ground is the water found?
  2. Whether the water-bearing layer consist of sands and gravels or impermeable soils.

Depending on this, it is possible to use one of the following solutions.

 

SOLUTION A.

Drilled well with pipe screens and type A hand pump.

 

Conditions of use:

  • the water level is located less than 5.0 m below ground level,
  • water-bearing layer consist of medium-grained sands or gravels.

The WSP with drill-pipe screens and type A hand pump is the simplest solution; its implementation does not require high qualifications from the contractor. The well is created by manually drilling the pipe screens into the ground using a turning handle.

 

2 to 4 persons are usually needed to create this type of well.

 

Other information:

  • the amount of water produced from the drilled well with pipe screens dos not exceed 100 l/hour,
  • water can only be extracted with the use of vacuum pump,
  • the life of drilled well with pipe screens can be relatively short (ranging from a few months to a few years) and depends on the ground conditions as well as the quality of workmanship.
  • when the well is exploited completely and does not produce water anymore, it is possible to recover the pipe screen by pulling it out from the earth, cleaning it and drilling it again in another place.

 

 

 

 

SOLUTION B.

Dug well with type A hand pump.

Conditions of use:

  •  the water level is located less than 5.0 m below ground level,
  • water-bearing layer consist of permeable or little permeable soils (sands or gravels).

 

WSP with a dug well requires the creation of concrete rings

  • dug wells with concrete rings are constructed by lowering the rings into the hole and excavating the ground from them,
  • the concrete rings can be built on site, at the location where the well is being constructed; however, in order to do so, it will be necessary to provide good gravel, cement and a mould for the rings,
  • dug wells are usually 6.0 m deep, but can be deeper if certain conditions are satisfied,
  • the bottom of the well should be located at least 1.0 m below the water level in the ground (it should be located as low as possible),
  • the dug well should be covered in order to prevent fatal accidents (children and animals often fall inside) or its contamination,
  • the pump is situated on cover of the well.

 

 

SOLUTION C.

Dug well with type B hand pump.

Conditions of use:

  • the water level is located deeper than 5.0 m below ground level,
  • water-bearing layer consist of permeable or little permeable soils (sands or gravels).

 

WSP with a dug well requires the creation of concrete rings

  • dug wells with concrete rings are constructed by lowering the rings into the hole and excavating the ground from them,
  • the concrete rings can be built on site, at the location where the well is being constructed; however, in order to do so, it will be necessary to provide good gravel, cement and a mould for the rings,
  • the bottom of the well should be located at least 1.0 m below the water level in the ground (it should be located as low as possible),
  • the dug well should be covered in order to prevent children and animals from falling inside,
  • the pump is situated on cover of the well

 

 

SOLUTION D.

Drilled well with type A hand pump.

 

Conditions of use:

  •  the water level is located not deeper than 5.0 m below ground level,
  • water-bearing layer consist of permeable soils,
  • the internal diameter of the well should not be less than 50 mm.

 

Specialized equipment and highly skilled workers are needed to construct this type of well.

 

 

SOLUTION E.

Drilled well with type B hand pump.

Conditions of use:

  • the water level is located not deeper than 23.0 m below ground level,
  • water-bearing layer consist of permeable soils,
  • the internal diameter of the well should not be less than 120 mm.

 

Specialized equipment and highly skilled workers are needed to construct this type of well.

  • The drilled well allows obtaining a greater quantity of water than other types of wells and may have a longer service life.
  • This type of well can be constructed with the use of mechanical equipment (drilling rigs) and rotary drilling or manual equipment and rotary or percussion method.

 

The range of possible operations performed by Firma Bartosz relating to the construction of water supply points (WSP).

  1. the supply of pumps,
  2. the supply of all or some of the materials necessary for the construction of WSP,
  3. the supply of the necessary tools,
  4. the construction of drilled wells (with the number of wells providing work for at least 12 months),
  5. training of persons carrying out the construction of WSP and initial supervision of their work until they can be independent.

  1. Which solutions you are interested in and the number of water supply points (WSP)?
  2. What should be included in the scope of delivery: only the pumps or maybe also drill-pipe screens or all the materials.
  3. Would you like to receive our offer for tools? If yes, please specify the number of work crews.
  4. Would you like for Firma Bartosz to train your staff and supervise the construction of first few WSP? If yes, how long should the training last?
